Department: Network Services and Support, North Campus
Reports to: Craig Hager, Director, Network Services
Salary: $10 – $12/hour, not to exceed 20 hours per week.

Position Summary: Provides support for the monitoring and maintenance of the NOC (Network Operations Center); works on projects using network tools to improve the efficiency of network systems

Job Duties:

  • Assist the Network Operations Center in the monitoring and repairing the wired and wireless enterprise network
  • Discovers new features of specific network tools
  • Develops enhancements for improved network monitoring
  • Uses Trouble Ticket tracking system
  • Supports staff in a variety of Network Services projects
  • Documents all work efforts

Accountabilities:

  • Projects are completed in a timely manner
  • Trouble tickets are created, assigned and/or resolved appropriately
  • Documentation is accurate and thorough

Interactions:
External: Networking vendors
Internal: NSS Directors and Staff

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Understanding of network fundamentals
  • Background in UNIX and/or Windows
  • Understanding of the TCP/IP communication protocols
  • Understanding of Radius
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot software
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical concepts
