Title: Student Visualization Specialist
Department: Digital Scholarship and Technology Services, Data Services  at Washington University Libraries
Reports To: Data & GIS Projects Manager
Salary/Hours: $10/hr – 10 hours/week

Position Summary: The Student Visualization Specialist supports the Data Services team on data visualization projects which may include (but are not limited to) spatial data tasks, script or web development, development of 3D immersive content, and processing workflows. The Student Specialist is also expected to document all activities and provides workflow improvement recommendations, and other tasks as assigned.

Job Duties:

  • Development of content (and accompanying processing workflows) for virtual
    and augmented reality display projects
  • Perform advanced spatial data processing and analysis tasks
  • Develop automated workflows for spatial data processing and analysis tasks
  • Triage support for data services help desk.

Qualifications:

      •  Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
      • Experience with Unity development
      • Experience with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, or MS Hololens
      • Proficiency in at least one programming language (C#, Python, R, Javascript)
      • Understanding of fundamental spatial concepts
      • Experience with ArcGIS Desktop Suite and/or ArcGIS Pro
      • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical concepts
      • Ability to multitask and a strong desire to learn
      • Excellent communication and organizational skills
      • WUSTL student with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA in good academic and judicial standing
