Department: IS&T Media Services
Reports to: Manager, Media Services
Salary: $10 – $12/hour, Not to exceed 20 hours per week
Job Description: The student employee will assist in the discovery, creation and editing of web site content for the new IS&T Media Services website. Upon learning the new technologies offered by the department, the student will assist with the creation of technical documentation and training materials for WUSTL clients. The Media Services department is offering campus clients the ability to use advanced Video Conferencing hardware, software, and streaming equipment.
Job Duties:
- Write new web content based on department needs
- Learn various media software used by the department
- Edit existing print materials for web use
- Edit existing web content
- Test conferencing hardware changes and document results
- Research department’s peer and competition sites for ideas, best and worst practices
Accountabilities:
- Complete projects in accordance with deadlines
- Learn and demonstrate best practices for documentation
- Attend required meetings and training
Interactions:
- WUSTL clients (departments, offices, groups, etc.)
- IS&T staff
Qualifications:
- Meet STaRS hiring criteria
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Desire to learn or experience with writing for the web
- Ability to work under deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and seek clarification from clients when needed
- Excellent writing, verbal and organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of Macintosh OS and Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Video Editing software
- Attention to detail
